All About Me Books
Developed by the Kern County Network for Children’s 2002 Leadership Development Class. The “ME BOOKS” were created to help those working with and for children. These books are designed to help identify the special little details about children’s lives, such as information pertaining to their home life, temperaments, fears, likes, dislikes and much more.
Through use of the “ME BOOKS”, parents and children are given the opportunity to communicate the special information they would like their caregiver to know about them. In addition, the process of sharing and respecting individual information about each child also indirectly helps create an important link/relationship between the families and caregivers.
The questions in the book were intended to provide information that stimulates deeper conversations with children. The information collected from these books can be used to help create a care environment and curriculum that meets each child’s individual needs and excites children’s interests.
Whether you work with children and families directly or indirectly… these books are for you. We encourage you to share these books with the parents, child care providers, teachers, after school program staff, family advocates, and others with whom you are involved with.
Thank you for your commitment to children and families!
