Community Connection for Child Care is dedicated to the development of quality child care options in Kern County. Programs are funded by federal, state and local governments, private foundations, corporations, service clubs and the United Way of Kern County and Indian Wells Valley.

    Child Care Education & Training Classes/Workshops
    Free and low-cost professional development opportunities and resources for child care professionals. Take advantage of the continuing education opportunities from participating programs!

    Resource and Referral Counselors work with providers to improve the quality of child care and to maintain and expand the supply of child care in each community, provides training and other services that help providers stay in business, and educates local communities and leaders to understand child care issues and to plan effectively to address child care needs.

    Seeking referrals to your program? Community Connection for Child Care is Kern County's Child Care Resource and Referral agency and its services are free and available to all parents, child care providers, employers and community members. If you have openings, please contact our Resource & Referral staff at 661.861.5200 or toll-free at 877.861.5200 and we can refer interested families at no cost.

    A Food Nutrition Program provides education and reimbursement to family child care providers for nutritionally balanced meals served to children in their care.

    Provider Pantry to all licensed Family Child Care providers who are enrolled with the CCCC Child Care Food Program may shop for great food at REDUCED prices at the Provider Pantry held once a month.

    Kern County Local Investment in Child Care (LINCC) Project
     The Kern County Local Investment in Child Care (LINCC) Project works to expand quality, licensed child care in Kern County by incorporating child care business strategies into local development priorities and activities.

    The Family, Friend & Neighbor Program program connects all license-exempt providers, including those participating in the CalWORKs and APP subsidized child care programs, with resources, training and support services to improve the quality, safety and consistency of care.

    Resource Library provides a lending library of toys, books and videos in addition to a laminating machine, binding machine, copy machine and the Ellison machine. Each of these tools can help you add pizzazz to your reading, creative projects and interactive programs. The Resource Library now features long distance learning opportunities offered through Child Care Productions on a wide variety of child development and related topics. We encourage you to take advantage of this wonderful center-as a resource in helping you be the best you can be!

    CCCC On-Line Child Care Job Bank
    helps to link child care centers and family child care homes with applicants to serve as staff or substitutes by posting job opportunities on the CCCC website FREE!

    Informational Meetings supply child care center directors and family child care providers with useful information keeping them abreast of child care issues and legislation.

    Monthly and quarterly newsletters offer articles of interest regarding children's development, your child care business and quality child care resources. Sign up today for our e-mail newsletters!

    Community Connection for Child Care can provide employers with assistance and consultation regarding employer-sponsored child care options such as child care referrals, on or off-site centers, direct child care payments, dependent care assistance plans, parenting seminars and tax benefits.

    Enhanced Child Care Referral provides personalized guidance, for employees, in finding child care that is right for them and their family.

    Community Connection for Child Care extends its reach through a vital connection with The Kern County Network for Children. This innovative community forum examines critical countywide issues related to the integrated delivery of child care, health and social services.

  • Kern County Children's Dental Health Network
    Please call 661.377.0322 or 661.377.0323 for more information on dental education, treatment and preventative services offered to local child care centers, family child care providers and families with children under 6 years of age.
  • Insurance Benefits for Child Care Providers
    California Association for Family Child Care is now offering group benefits for Family Child Care Providers, their family & employees!
  • Trustline
    Trustline is the California registry of in-home child care providers who have passed a background screening. All caregivers listed with Trustline have been cleared through a fingerprint check of records at the California Department of Justice. This means they have no disqualifying criminal convictions or substantiated child abuse reports in California. It is invaluable information. Trustline uses the most up-to-date and detailed databases at the California Department of Justice and the FBI to protect children. Trustline is continually updated and caregivers who have committed a disqualifying crime are removed.

      Parents
      You can check if a provider is registered on Trustline by calling 1.800.822.8490 and giving the person's full name, driver's license number or other approved identification. If your current caregiver or the caregiver you are interviewing is not registered, just call Trustline's 800 number to learn how they can apply.

      Providers
      Registering is simple. Just call Trusline at 1.800.822.8490 to obtain a one-page application and send it in with a set of fingerprints and a one-time only fee. If no disqualifying criminal convictions or substantiated child abuse reports are found, your name will be added to the registry. Remember, all child care providers who operate in State-Licensed settings, such as child care centers, have undergone a similar screening process.
